What makes you HAPPY?

Today I woke up grumpy. Super grumpy. And as the LOA works, it got worse the moment I stood up and got out of bed.

So after a few hours of grumping at everyone around me that I normally love, I decided we all needed some fresh air, and so we took a walk in the rain. This normally cheers me up.

Today, it didn’t. So as we are walking, I asked myself: “Heike, what would make you really happy right now?”. I could not think of a thing. I thought about food, people, shopping, my kids, etc. Nothing.

Thankfully, this cloud wore off before anyone disowned me.

It made me decide to make a list, a list of things that make me happy. So next time I wake up in a funk, I can grab my emergency list before things get ugly.

My list is kind of funny, and I am not going share publicly. I dare you to sit down with your deepest self and think about what makes you happy. And don’t just write down the spiritually and socially acceptable stuff, be honest and keep the list private if need be. One of my items: xx. Make a super find at the thrift store for under $5. (Really, this thrills me immensly).

Granny and the Royals

My friend Dani and I often talk about our grandmothers. They are both wonderful women, and unfortunately, they both live thousands of miles away from us. Today I received this picture of her granny, Ata, who is a photographer, and a woman I wish I could meet. I wanted to share with you (with Danis’ permission, of course) the great picture, and the comment her dad sent with it.

“The third person from the right on the stairway is Prince Wilhelm Alexander
of Orange, the crown prince. Next to him, fourth from the right, is
Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, the future Queen.

My mother Ata is the 94-year lady at the bottom left of the picture. Later
on, during dinner, she sat right next to the crown prince, who was very
charming and talkative. Unfortunately, my mother is nearly deaf.”

True friends?

How do you recognize a true friend? By how long you know them, how you met them, they have seen you in your undies, they have saved you,…….?

Sometimes a friend comes out of the blue, when and where you least expect it. Without knowing it, they do something that will change your life, and you become connected for eternity.

Sometimes you loose a friend the same way, when and where you least expect it. And when you do, it is already to late to ponder on the friendship. You live on.

In the last 24 hours, I have unearthed a friend from many “lives” ago, and made a new one unexpectedly.

Thank the Goddess for you true compadres out there, you know who you are, as you enrich my life every day. You know, the ones I can call at 3 am, or after 5 or 10 years, and you still love me for me. Grazie.

Night Feeder

I think I am addicted to eating after 10 pm. In the last hour I have had:
1 cheese stick
a bowl of cold pasta
a quesedilla wrap
a large tomato with salt
and a goblet of red wine

I try to do my ass a favor so I squeezed a tomato in there.

I am still hungry. I am not pregnant, nor do I have munchies. I just love to eat. And at this time of night, no one is trying to share my food.

Have a fave midnight meal? Pass is it on, sister……

My name is Heike, and I am a PROCRASTINATOR

I don’t know if I was born with it, or if I have cultivated this art over the years. Tonight, I finally did my taxes. Hey, 5!!! days before the deadline. It is not as if I do them myself, no, I hire someone. Every year, I tell him the same thing “This year I am entering all this stuff into the computer as I go. Then, all I have to do is print it out.” Today, he just smirked at me. Yeah, yeah. I have been giving him that line for 9 years.

I don’t know why I am such a damn procrastinator. Is there a “Procrastinator Anonymous”?? I am wore out from this day, sitting here with a bottle of wine I finished myself, trying to figure out why the hell I do this to myself every year. It is really not that hard.

If you sell an organization tool for people like me, email me and I will buy it.
